WEEKEND ARRESTS NET DRUGS, TWO GUNS

(9/20/2006) NEW HAVEN – Members of the New Haven Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Unit arrested five individuals recently at locations throughout the city

In the area of 280 Kimberly Avenue, Angel Melendez, 36, of 119 Blake Street, was charged with possession of a narcotic substance, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell, possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school, possession of a narcotic substance with intent to sell within 1500 feet of a school, sale of narcotics, sale of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school and motor vehicle charges. Laura Daigle, 40, of West Haven, was charged with possession of a narcotic substance and possession of a narcotic substance within 1500 feet of a school. Police seized $136, 7.3 grams of cocaine, packaging material and an Isuzu Trooper. In addition, a warrant was served on Amilcar Alandor, 30, of Hamden.

A 17-year-old city man was arrested in the Blake Street area and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drug paraphernalia within 1500 feet of a school, interfering with police, trespass and disorderly conduct. Police seized empty baggies and a razor blade.

Following a foot chase in the area of 542 Elm Street, a 14-year old boy was arrested and charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, interfering with police and reckless endangerment in the first degree. Police seized two guns, a .45 caliber and a .380 caliber. A second arrest is expected in this incident.
